Indian Council of Agricultural Research

The board is charged with the responsibility of recruitment of Scientists and to such other posts and services as may be specified by the President, ICAR from time to time through competitive examinations / direct recruitment by selection etc. as the principal mandate to make available the best human resources to man the various positions in ICAR in the country.

Mission/Mandate

1. Recruitment to the posts in the Agricultural Research Services (ARS) of ICAR and to such other posts and services specified by the President of ICAR.
2. Rendering such other assistance to ICAR in personal matters including promotions.
3. Advising the Council on disciplinary matters relating to personal recruited/appointed by the Council or in consultation with the Board.

Brief History

Agricultural Scientists' Recruitments Board (ASRB) was established on Nov 1, 1973 as an independent recruitment agency accountable to the President of ICAR society. This was done pursuant to the decision of Group of Ministers constituted to consider the recommendations of the Committee headed by Dr. P.B. Gajendragadkar.
