Innovative Farmers Meet Organized

ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune organized one day Innovative Farmers Meet at KVK, Narayangaon, Punetoday.In opening remarks, Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune highlighted the importance of documenting farm innovations and un-noticed innovative ideas used by the farmers in crop husbandry and other allied components of livelihood options. He said that such documented innovations may be helpful to other farmers and entrepreneurs. Dr. Singh advocated different informal methodological ways of identifying and observing the innovative practices followed by the farmers in farming, livestock rearing, etc.

KrishiRatna Shri Anil Meher, Chairman, KVK, Narayangaon Punestated that a collaborative initiative is needed to get patented such farm innovations.

Several farm innovations developed by the farmers were presented like mini 4 wheel drive tractor, eco-pest trap, hydraulic silage pressure, fertilizer slurry applicator, groundnut pod separator machine, BBF with spraying machine, use of drumstick leaves for paratha preparation, roti maker, spacing management in fruit crops, etc.

In this event, more than 60 innovative farmers participated and shared their innovative ideas and innovations.
