The two-week Virtual National Training Programme on “Advances in Integrated Watershed Management for Rural Livelihood” organized by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Research Centre, Ooty, Tamil Nadu from 26th February to 11th March, 2022 concluded today.
Dr. R.C. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar was the Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony of the programme. Dr. Srivastava stressed on the need for the self-reliant participatory approach in IWMP with short, medium and long term impacts on the rural livelihood security.

Dr. M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun, Uttarakhand underlined the need for the field-oriented approach with a focus on 3 E’s - Economy, Equity and Environment, especially, for the land degradation neutrality, environmental sustenance and doubling the farmers’ income.
Dr. G. Ravindra Chary, Project Coordinator, All India Coordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad accentuated on the need for the climate-resilient interventions with agro-advisory services for IWMP.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. P. Raja, Principal Scientist & Course Director (DST Training) & Course Director, ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu briefed about the Course Module.
A total of 42 Group “A” Officials from the Teaching and other Government Departments of 13 States participated in the programme.
