The ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai organized the Skill Development Training Programme on “Nursery Rearing of Hatchery produced Asian Seabass Seeds” at its Muttukadu Experimental Station today.


In his address, Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA, Chennai outlined the main objective of the programme that aims at creating self-employment opportunities for the unemployed women in the coastal communities through fish seed production activities using the technologies developed by the Institute.
The participants were provided with the hands-on-training in grading and packing of seeds at the Hatchery along with the exposure visit to the Finfish Hatchery Sections and Pond Culture Facilities at Kovalam Experimental Station of the Institute during the occasion.
A total of 36 participants belonging to 3 Women Self-Help Groups from Kottaikadu Village in Chengalpattu District of Tamil Nadu participated in the programme.
