Hindi Fortnight-2026 Commences at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad

Hindi Fortnight-2026 commenced with great enthusiasm at the ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, today.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Vinod Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, underscored the significance of Hindi as the Official Language and exhorted the officers and staff of the Institute to foster its wider, natural and effective use, not only in official communication but also in scientific and technical endeavours.

He further emphasised that Hindi, along with other Indian languages, has a vital role in communicating the knowledge, technologies and innovations emerging from agricultural research to farmers and other stakeholders in an accessible and meaningful manner.

Dr Archana Pandey, Assistant Director (Official Language), DRDO, Ministry of Defence, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. In her address, she shared valuable perspectives on the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy and the practical and natural use of Hindi in official work.

She particularly emphasised the importance of communicating scientific and technical subjects in clear, lucid and comprehensible Hindi. She observed that the meaningful expansion of the Official Language can be achieved through its consistent use and the active participation of officers and employees at all levels.

Dr Manoranjan Kumar, Chairman, Hindi Fortnight Organising Committee, delivered the welcome address and extended a cordial welcome to the Guest of Honour and all officers and staff present on the occasion. He outlined the objectives of Hindi Fortnight and provided an overview of the various activities envisaged during the fortnight.

The initiative seeks not merely to foster greater interest and participation in Hindi, but also to encourage its natural, lucid and effective use across administrative, scientific and technical domains, thereby strengthening its role as a vibrant medium of professional communication.
