ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi organized a Kisan Goshthi at Jafarpur village, Rudrapur, Uttarakhand today focusing on crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices.
The programme emphasized key issues including access to improved, disease-free quality seeds; adoption of efficient horticultural management practices; intercropping and intensive farming systems; soil fertility enhancement; and disease management in paddy. Special focus was given to promoting early-maturing varieties of mustard and pigeonpea for increased productivity and profitability.

Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director and Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-IARI, highlighted the institute’s efforts in developing improved crop varieties and advanced technologies. He urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural innovations to improve yields, maintain soil health, and ensure seed quality.
Dr. Viswanathan C (Joint Director, Research), along with other senior officials addressed farmers’ queries and shared practical solutions to region-specific agricultural challenges.
Around 30 farmers from Gadarpur, Bajpur, Kichha, Beneshpur, Rudrapur, and Jafarpur participated in the event.
