ICAR-NAARM Organizes Skill Development Training on Vermicomposting at KVK, Gaddipally, Telangana

ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad organized a two-day Skill Development Training Programme on “Vermicompost Production Technology” for scheduled caste farmers under SC Sub Plan at SAIRDKVK, Gaddipally, Suryapet, Telangana from 02-03 February 2023.

Dr. M. Balakrishnan, Principal Scientist & Chairman SCSP, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad spoke about the use of Vermicompost to protect the soil and to get quality crop yields. He urged the farmers not to burn the crop stubbles and incorporate them in the soil to increase the organic carbon percentage. Dr. Balakrishnan emphasized adopting integrated nutrient management practices, which include use of vermicomposting, neem cake, and bio inoculants.

Sri B. Lava Kumar, Senior Scientist and Head (i/c) explained the various programs undertaken by the KVK for the benefit of the farming community and highlighted the importance of using Vermicompost in agriculture for getting quality products and to improve soil health.

Around 58 farmers from seven mandals of Suryapet district were participated in the training program.
