North Zonal Seminar of Plant Physiology on “Inter-Disciplinary Research Strategies for Climate Resilient Agriculture” organized

The ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Regional Centre, Karnal, Haryana organized the North Zonal Seminar of Plant Physiology on “Inter-Disciplinary Research Strategies for Climate Resilient Agriculture” today.

The Seminar was organized in association with the Indian Society for Plant Physiology (ISPP).

The Chief Guest, Dr. G. Hemaprabha, Director, ICAR- SBI, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu highlighted the importance of Plant Physiology in the changing climate scenario to explore the various adaptive mechanisms in imparting tolerance against the abiotic stresses. She also encouraged the students to come forward with innovative ideas and take maximum benefits from the scientific interactions during the Seminar.

Dr. S.K. Pandey, Head, ICAR-SBI, Regional Centre, Karnal underlined the Centre’s activities including the latest high Sugar yielding varieties.

The Seminar registered participation by about 225 participants from the North Zone including Students, Researchers and Scientists from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
