The ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins & Gums, Ranchi, Jharkhand celebrated its 98th Foundation Day today.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management & Agricultural Engineering), ICAR outlined the practices of the non-traditional agriculture like lac culture, apiculture, mushroom culture and vermicompost fisheries, etc., in the region.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Onkar Nath Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, Jharkhand outlined the Institute's role in achieving the expected goal of doubling the farmers’ income.
Dr. K.K. Singh, ADG (FE), ICAR and Dr. S.N. Jha, ADG (PE), ICAR stated about the ways by which the Institute can uplift farmers' economic conditions after broadening its mandates.
In the “11th Ms. Dorothy Memorial Lecture”, Dr. Ashok Dalwai, C.E.O., National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) urged the farmers to be self-reliant through establishing a solid foundation of secondary agriculture. He also stressed on the Institute's significant role in carrying out fruitful research on the value-addition of agricultural products.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. K.K. Sharma, Director, ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi highlighted the various technologies developed and transferred by the Institute.
The senior officials of ICAR Institutes also participated in the event.
