Campaign on “Knowledge Empowerment of Tribals” organized

The ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore in collaboration with Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu organized a Campaign on “Knowledge Empowerment of Tribals” and launched its STC (Scheduled Tribes Component) Project in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve (ATR), Tamil Nadu here today.

Delivering the inaugural address, Shri M.G. Ganesan, Deputy Director, Anamalai Tiger Reserve underlined the utmost care taken by the Institute in identifying the appropriate interventions for the tribals in the reserve that are living in the very remote, almost inaccessible settlements. He also released the Extension Pamphlets published by the ICAR-SBI during the occasion.

Outlining the ICAR-SBI and STC Team’s efforts in identifying the apt interventions for the tribals, Dr. G. Hemaprabha, Director, ICAR-SBI, Coimbatore stressed on making the tribals, women and children in particular, about the importance of education not only for their economic development and prosperity; but, also to preserve their culture.

The participants were distributed the radio sets during the occasion.
