Workshop on “Cyber Security” organized

The Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Unit of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi organized the Workshop on “Concepts and Uses of Cyber Security in Office and Daily Life” under the aegis of “Cyber Jagrukta Diwas” here at Agricultural Education Division, Krishi Anusandhan Bhawan - II, New Delhi today.

Virtually addressing the Workshop, the Chief Guest, Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR & National Director (NAHEP) underlined about the sound cyber security system in place in the Council. The importance of regular manpower awareness in the areas of cyber security and cyber laws to deal with the challenges of cyber crimes was also highlighted by the DDG.

The Guest Speakers, Shri Samiran Goswami, DCP, Cyber Security and Shri Anna Anand, Inspector, Cyber Security, Police Training School, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India discussed about the various aspects of cyber security like Cyber Space, CIA Triad, objectives of Cyber-Attack, types of Cyber Threats, Advanced Persistent Threats, the ways by which malware spreads to standalone systems, how users can keep their desktops safe and other safety guidelines for the safe internet browsing over the public Internet, etc.

The Workshop was initiated by Dr. Anil Rai, ADG (ICT), ICAR.

Dr. Himanshu, Senior Scientist & Chief Information Security Officer, ICAR (Head Quarters) & Workshop Coordinator highlighted the need and objectives of the Workshop.

Earlier, Dr. K.P. Singh, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ICT Unit, ICAR welcomed the dignitaries.

The participants were provided with the prompt solutions for their various doubts and queries from the experts. The Expert Speakers highlighted the importance of Cyber Security in the present day scenario in the Government Sector in India.

The Workshop registered participation by more than 45 Senior Officials including ADGs, Principal Scientists, Controller of Examination, Directors, Deputy Secretaries, CTOs, ACTOs, Under Secretaries and other Staff Members.
