The Virtual Training Programme on “Integrated Watershed Management for the I.F.S. Probationers from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun, Uttarakhand” organized by the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad from 24th to 29th May, 2021 concluded today.
Shri. Bharat Jothi, I.F.S., Director, IGNFA highlighted the relevance of Watershed Management in the light of evolving responsibilities of the I.F.S. Officers.
The eminent speakers - Dr. Ashok Dalwai, C.E.O., National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA); Dr. J.S. Samra, Former DDG (NRM), ICAR & Former C.E.O., NRAA, New Delhi and Dr. Suhas P. Wani, Former Director, ICRISAT Development Centre also virtually participated in the programme.

Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM deliberated about the current status of watershed in India and provided practical tips on participatory Watershed Management. The interface between the forestry and agriculture sector and the need for stakeholder engagement for successful watershed development was also highlighted by Dr. Rao.
The programme was organized as a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the ICAR-NAARM and IGNFA.
Around 90 Probationers including the Officers from the Royal Bhutan Forest Service from 2018-20 and 2019-21 Batches virtually participated in the programme.
