The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - III, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh virtually organized “Annual Review Workshop of NICRA Project” today.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR outlined about the inclusion of Uttarakhand in the Zone - III during the starting of the NICRA Project and the prevalence of problems related to soil and water. Dr. Singh urged for further improving the work being implemented by the KVKs with the help of ICAR-ATARIs and ICAR-CRIDA. The DDG also stressed on the need for changing the terminology of each NICRA KVK to have a seed bank and a fodder bank.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. A.K. Mehta, Chairman, ZMC, Zone - III, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh accentuated on the visible effects of climate change in the ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana.
Dr. Vinod Kumar Singh Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad regarded the NICRA Project to be an important project. He emphasized on the Project’s implementation at the District level only through Krishi Vigyan Kendras.

Earlier, Dr. Atar Singh Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kanpur underlined about the results of different technology interventions on varieties and 13 Districts that are problematic (4 Districts were flood-affected, 4 drought affected, 2 were drought and 2 Districts were water depleted). Dr. Singh emphasized on the DSR of paddy, zero tillage of wheat, cowpea (Kashi Kanchan), line sowing, mustard (T-59), line sowing, sugarcane (leaf mulch), leveling and bunding, etc., to be the best technologies that have been effective in all the 13 Districts.
The senior officials of ICAR and its Institutes also participated in the workshop.
