The ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa organized a Webinar on “Integrating Agri-aquaculture Systems for promoting Blue Economy in Coastal Region through productivity, income and livelihood enhancement” today.

In his address, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa outlined the main objective of the Lecture Series organized by the ICAR Institutes. The importance of Integrated Agri-aquaculture Systems for enhancing the productivity, net returns and of livelihood of the Coastal Farmers was also highlighted in the Director’s address

In his Talk on “Aquaponics-Quality Food at Backyard to Commercial Units”, Dr. Mithun Sukumaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala underlined the designing of an ecologically efficient and economically viable Aquaponics System, challenges faced by the farmers and possible solutions to overcome them.

The Webinar was organized as a part of the National Campaign on “System Diversification in Aquaculture” under the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.

Around 50 participants including Scientists, Department Officials, Farmers, Entrepreneurs, Students, Researchers and other Stakeholders participated in the Webinar.
