ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, organised the Technical Hindi Seminar–2026 today to promote the use of Hindi for scientific and technical communication and facilitate wider dissemination of knowledge in agriculture, science, technology, administration and Official Language.
Prof. (Dr) Indra Mani, Vice-Chancellor, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, Maharashtra, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Dr Gopal Lal, Joint Director, ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad, and Dr R. K. Mathur, Director, ICAR–Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad, attended as the Guests of Honour.
Dr Vinod Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, presided over the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Indra Mani appreciated the initiative and highlighted its significance in taking scientific and technical knowledge to wider sections of society. Emphasising the importance of communicating in one’s own language, he encouraged scientists and researchers to promote the creation and dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge in Hindi and other Indian languages.
Dr Gopal Lal and Dr R. K. Mathur also emphasised the growing relevance of Hindi and other Indian languages in scientific and technical fields. They noted that communicating research findings and technological advancements in simple and accessible language can help reach farmers, stakeholders and society more effectively.
The occasion witnessed the release of the “Technical Hindi Seminar–2026: Compendium of Abstracts”, comprising abstracts of technical papers prepared by scientists, experts and officers from diverse fields. The inaugural issue of the Institute’s half-yearly Hindi house magazine, ‘Barani Darpan’, was also released, marking an initiative towards sustained promotion of Hindi and knowledge dissemination at ICAR-CRIDA.
The seminar featured two technical sessions, with invited talks and technical presentations by participants from Hyderabad and various institutions and cities across the country. Presentations covered diverse contemporary themes related to science, agriculture, technology, environment, administration, Official Language and other technical areas, highlighting the potential of Hindi as an effective medium for scientific and technical communication.
The programme also marked the concluding and prize distribution ceremony of Hindi Pakhwada–2026, organised at the Institute from 8 September 2026. Scientists, technical and administrative officers and employees, and project and contractual personnel participated enthusiastically in various Hindi competitions and activities. Prizes were presented to the winners, while certificates were distributed to participants of the Technical Hindi Seminar.
In his presidential and concluding address, Dr Vinod Kumar Singh expressed satisfaction over the successful organisation of the seminar and Hindi Pakhwada–2026. He emphasised the need to expand the use of Hindi beyond routine official work and strengthen its role as an effective medium for communicating scientific and technical knowledge.
Shri Santosh Kumar Anand, Assistant Director (Official Language), ICAR-CRIDA, and Convener of Technical Hindi Seminar–2026, coordinated the programme. Scientists, officers, employees and members of the organising committee contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
