ICAR-IARI Hyderabad Hub Celebrates Teachers’ Day at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad

ICAR-IARI Hyderabad Hub celebrated Teachers’ Day today at ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, to acknowledge and honour the invaluable contributions of teachers towards shaping the academic and personal growth of students.

The programme was graced by Padma Shri Dr Arvind Kumar, Former Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR, and Former and Founder Vice Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, as the Chief Guest.

Directors of ICAR institutes located in Hyderabad, Nodal Officers, Discipline Coordinators, faculty members and students of the IARI Hyderabad Hub participated in the celebrations.

Dr V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, acknowledged the significant contributions of the faculty members towards the academic activities of the Hub. Student representatives also shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude for the role of teachers in their academic journey, personality development and overall growth.

The Directors and Nodal Officers of ICAR institutes in Hyderabad highlighted the significance of Teachers’ Day and emphasised the vital role of teachers in nurturing students, shaping their careers and preparing them to contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building. They also conveyed their blessings and best wishes to the students.

Dr Singh presented an overview of the academic and other activities of the IARI Hyderabad Hub, highlighting its achievements and the accomplishments of its students.

On the occasion, Padma Shri Dr Arvind Kumar felicitated the superannuated faculty members of the IARI Hyderabad Hub in recognition of their valuable contributions to the Hub’s academic programme.

The highlight of the celebrations was the Teachers’ Day Lecture delivered by Dr Arvind Kumar on “Protecting and Transforming the Teaching Profession in a Rapidly Changing World.” He traced the evolution of education, with particular emphasis on agricultural education, and highlighted the major reforms undertaken in the education system over the years.

Dr Kumar elaborated on the emerging challenges confronting the education system in a rapidly changing world and underscored the enduring importance of good teachers, particularly in the digital age. He emphasised that teachers play a crucial role in nurturing well-rounded students equipped to contribute effectively to society and nation-building. Drawing from his extensive experience as a teacher, warden and administrator, he also shared valuable insights and experiences with the students.

The programme concluded with an emphasis on strengthening the teacher-student relationship and recognising the enduring contribution of teachers to education, professional development and nation-building.
