Skill development Programme for Farmers on Mitigating El-Nino Impacts on Agriculture through Natural Resource Management” under TSP at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad

ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized 5-Days Skill development Programme for Farmers on “Mitigating El-Nino Impacts on Agriculture through Natural Resource Management” during 24-28 August, 2026 at ICAR-CRIDA, Santoshnagar, Hyderabad under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP).

During the inaugural session of the training programme, Dr V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA stressed on El-Nino and its impact on agriculture and highlighted the significance of livestock, horticulture and value addition in dryland agriculture.

The training covered various aspects including El-Nino and strategies for coping its effects, integrated farming system, soil health management to mitigate the effects of El-Nino, farm mechanization, farm pond technology, livestock care and management during El-Nino and backyard poultry, cropping system interventions, IPM in rainfed crops, agricultural development schemes, farmer organizations, rainwater management for enhanced water productivity and biofertilizers application for crop production and soil fertility.

The training programme also included exposure visits to ICAR-CRIDA Research Farms where farmers learnt about different experiments and demonstrations. Valedictory session of training programme was held on 28th August, 2026.

Dr V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Chief Guest for the valedictory session urged the farmers to adopt technologies to improve the farm income. During the session, the Chief Guest has distributed the certificates to the participants.

Twenty farmers from seven villages of three Mandals from Adilabad District of Telangana State attended the training programme.
