Prof. K. V. Raju, Member, NITI Aayog and Dr J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries), ICAR visited ICAR-CIFE Rohtak Centre today.
Prof. Raju, apprised the need of a comprehensive roadmap for the sustainable ISA across different inland saline states of the country that needs to chalk out in consultation with the state fisheries department. He advised the Centre to prepare a roadmap highlighting state-specific opportunities, issues, technological needs, and strategic interventions for promoting sustainable ISA.

Dr Jena, suggested potential areas of intervention including resource mapping and diversification in achieving sustainability in ISA.
Dr N. P. Sahu, Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai along with the senior officials and Nodal Officer of the Regional Centre were also present during the visit. The purpose of visit was to review the ongoing activities and understand the potential as well as challenges associated with inland saline aquaculture (ISA) in the north-west region of the country.

The dignitaries visited three shrimp farms of Rohtak and interacted with the farmers and discussed potential strategies for promoting inland saline aquaculture in the region. Dr. M. A. Pathan, Senior Scientist and the Officer-In-charge of the Centre delivered a presentation highlighting the major activities of the centre and its contribution in promoting ISA.
The dignitaries observed P monodon culture at the Centre and distributed genetically improved seeds of common carp to farmers.
