ICAR-IARI, Jharkhand celebrates its 12th Foundation Day

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Jharkhand celebrated its 12th Foundation Day with joy and dignity at the Gauria Karma campus in Jharkhand. On this occasion, the Institute’s achievements in agricultural research, education, innovation, and technology dissemination were highlighted.

The Chief Guest, Dr M. L. Jat, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, virtually addressed the ceremony and extended greetings on the Foundation Day. He appreciated the institute’s contributions in agricultural research, education, and farmer-oriented technology development in Eastern India, emphasizing that climate-smart agriculture, natural resource conservation, and innovation-based research are the needs of the future.

On this occasion, Dr Jat virtually inaugurated six new infrastructure projects of the Institute, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹20.55 crore. These include the Swami Vivekananda Academic Complex, Jaipal Singh Munda Sports Complex, Tulsi Health Center, Kusum Shopping Complex, 16 Type-4 residences, and 8 Type-3 residences. These facilities will strengthen the institute’s academic, research, sports, health, and residential systems.

Special Guest Dr D. K. Yadav, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, praised the Institute’s achievements and emphasized multidisciplinary research, precision agriculture, digital technologies, and effective technology transfer. On this occasion, the Institute’s publications were also released.

Dr Ch. Srinivas Rao, Director-cum-Vice Chancellor, ICAR-IARI, in his presidential address, shed light on the Institute’s achievements and future plans, highlighting its significant role in natural resource management, climate-resilient agriculture, advanced crop technology, horticulture, seed production, and farmer-oriented extension programs. Dr. C. Viswanathan, Joint Director (Research), also addressed the program, reiterating the Institute’s continuous commitment to agricultural research, education, and farmer welfare.

The main attraction of the ceremony was the presentation of awards and certificates of appreciation for outstanding contributions in various fields. In addition, outstanding students, progressive farmers, Chouparan CSC, Hazaribagh (recognized as the Best Farmer Producer Organization - FPO), media representatives, and outsourcing staff of the institute were also honored for their excellent contributions.

The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Institute’s scientists, students, technical and administrative staff, progressive farmers, and numerous stakeholders from nearby areas. The program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Vishal Nath.
