Report on Campaign for Balanced Use of Fertilizers under ICAR-ATARI Zone X, Hyderabad

Under the Intensive Awareness Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilisers coordinated by ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone X, Hyderabad, extensive awareness and extension activities were conducted today across eight major DAP-consuming districts of Andhra Pradesh involving 8 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). A total of 7 awareness programmes covering 290 farmers were organized, along with 2 training programmes benefiting 82 farmers.

About 78 farmers visited KVKs and interacted with scientists on scientific nutrient management and balanced fertiliser application. The campaign also included 17 demonstrations comprising green manuring, biofertilizer application, and other balanced nutrient management practices.

Through field-level extension activities and direct interactions, 450 farmers were reached through physical contact, while an extensive digital outreach of 2,17,556 farmers was achieved through WhatsApp, Facebook, X, and other social media platforms. The campaign significantly enhanced farmer awareness on balanced fertiliser use, soil health improvement, and sustainable agricultural practices across the participating districts under ICAR–ATARI Zone X, Hyderabad.

Under the Intensive Awareness Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilisers coordinated by ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone X, Hyderabad, extensive awareness and extension activities were carried out on 21.05.2026 across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry involving 72 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).

A total of 20 awareness programmes covering 765 farmers and 9 training programmes benefiting 407 farmers were organized under the campaign. In addition, interface meetings involving participants from different stakeholders were also conducted. Around 341 farmers visited KVKs and interacted with scientists for technical guidance on balanced nutrient management practices.

The campaign also included 29 demonstrations comprising green manuring, biofertilizer application, and other nutrient management technologies. Extensive outreach was achieved through digital and field-level extension activities, covering about 2,77,873 farmers through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, X, and others, while 1,531 farmers were reached through direct physical contact and extension interactions.

The campaign successfully promoted awareness on scientific fertiliser application, soil health management, and sustainable agricultural practices across the four states under ICAR–ATARI Zone X, Hyderabad.
