ICAR and WRI India Sign MoU to Strengthen Collaboration in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems

11 March 2026, New Delhi

ICAR and the India Resources Trust (WRI India) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to strengthen collaboration in agricultural research, knowledge exchange, and capacity building aimed at advancing sustainable and climate-resilient food systems.

The MoU establishes a broad framework for cooperation between ICAR and WRI India, enabling collaborative initiatives across ICAR’s research institutes, centres, and affiliated organisations. The partnership will focus on key areas such as reducing food loss, post-harvest losses and food waste; promoting landscape restoration through agroforestry; and advancing sustainable, resource-efficient, and climate-resilient agricultural production systems across India.

The collaboration also aims to support capacity building across the agricultural value chain, including training programmes for researchers, extension personnel, practitioners, and policymakers.

The partnership is expected to facilitate engagement with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and local communities to scale practical solutions for reducing food loss and waste, strengthening sustainable agricultural practices, and improving resource efficiency.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr S. N. Jha, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering), ICAR, advised the team from WRI India to develop a comprehensive work plan for the effective implementation of the MoU and to translate the collaboration into impactful outcomes.
