ICAR–National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Manipur University, Canchipur, Imphal, today to facilitate long-term research collaboration, training, and academic exchange in fisheries and allied sciences.
The MoU was formally signed by Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Registrar, Manipur University, and Dr. Kajal Chakraborty, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, in the presence of Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University.
Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, highlighted that this collaboration will greatly enhance opportunities for research students and contribute to capacity building in the border areas of fisheries and allied sciences.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kajal Chakraborty, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, emphasized that this partnership will strengthen fisheries science in India’s North-Eastern region by integrating academic excellence with ICAR-NBFGR’s mandate on fish genetic resources.
The MoU enables research scholars of Manipur University to carry out their thesis work at ICAR-NBFGR. It also facilitates student exchange programmes, training, and access to laboratory facilities.
This strategic collaboration between ICAR-NBFGR and Manipur University is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation, training skilled manpower, and advancing sustainable management of fish genetic resources.
