Shri Arvind Kaushal, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR flagged off ‘Krishi Kranti Rath’ at KVK Katni in presence of more than 100 farmers and farm women, officials of line departments, KVK team and scientists of ZPD Zone-VII, Jabalpur. This is a new initiative by the Government of Madhya Pradesh which is celebrating Krishi Mahotsava during September 25 to October 20, 2014. The Rath is regularly visiting the scheduled villages for creating awareness about the new technologies in agriculture and sensitizing farmers by the profitability of the same.
Shri Kaushal also visited KVK Instructional Farm in presence of Prof. V.S. Tomar, Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidylaya, Jabalpur, Dr. Anupam Mishra, Zonal Project Director, Zone VII and other senior officials. He urged scientists to work in pro-farmer mode and involve more public representatives in the area for enhancing visibility of the KVK contributions.
During interaction with the farmers of KVK Satna, he discussed the demonstration on rice crop under SRI technique, seedless lemon varieties and other innovative practices adopted by farmers of the region.
During his visit to ZPD premises, Secretary, ICAR reviewed the initiatives and work performance of the ZPD. He emphasized on the sensitization of the parliamentarians with the KVK works and time to time appraisal of the programme and activities for their greater involvement.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. S.R.K.Singh, Sr. Scientist, ZPD, Zone-VII and his team.
