Directors’ Conference Begins at New Delhi

Directors’ Conference Begins at New DelhiPadma Vibhushan Dr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Infosys Limited inaugurated the Directors’ Conference at NASC complex here today.

While delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Narayana Murthy emphasized upon the agricultural research and said human being can forego any other luxury but not food. 

He appreciated the efforts of ICAR and congratulated agricultural scientists for the record production of food grain. Dr. Narayana Murthy urged scientist to make extraordinary efforts to meet the growing demand of food.  A lively interaction followed the lecture.

On this occasion, Prof. M.S. Swaminathan, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha addressed the gathering on Commemoration of Golden Jubilee of Works of Nobel Laureate, Late Dr. Norman Borlaug in India. Prof. Swaminathan also shared his reminiscence of developing the agricultural research in India.

Earlier, Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR welcomed and introduced the dignitaries. He also briefed the gathering about the programme.

Selected institutes were also awarded for the Best Annual Report (2012-13) and Raj Bhasha Puraskar awards on the occasion.

DDGs, ADGs, Directors of the ICAR institutes and senior officials are participating in this two-day (19-20 March, 2013) conference.
