National Dialogue on “Innovative Food for Hospitality Industry” organized

The Intellectual Property and Technology Management (IP&TM) Unit of ICAR virtually organized a “National Dialogue on Innovative Food for Hospitality Industry” today.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) emphasized on the needs of the food and hospitality industry. Dr. Mohapatra urged the experts of the hospitality industry to share their views and the requirements which can help  the scientists to come up with new products / processes.

Dr. Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR stressed on the continuation of such programmes and development of structured partnership with the hospitality industry.

Chef Manjit Singh Gill, Corporate Chef, ITC & President, Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA) accentuated on reinventing the concept of farm-to-fork for providing more scope to the Chefs and Agricultural Scientists to interact and network in a structured manner. He also urged the scientists to come up with a book on food ingredients and a structured Farmers’-Chefs’ Alliance for more interaction.

Chef Dr. P. Soundarajan, General Secretary, IFCA & Corporate Executive Chef, Club Mahindra Holidays & Resorts opined the Council to be a part of the Chefs’ Associations and Hospitality Industry for the betterment of farmers and the food industry stakeholders.

Dr. S.N. Jha, ADG (PE), ICAR highlighted the importance, future strategies and a roadmap to achieve the objectives of the National Dialogue.

Dr. Sudha Mysore, C.E.O., AgriInnovate India Ltd., New Delhi outlined the mode of knowledge transfer.

The main objective of the programme was to look for the opportunity for transferring the food processing technologies to the Public and Private Organizations and also discuss and analyze the gaps leading to a roadmap to fulfil the need of the hospitality industry.

More than 250 Scientists, Start-ups, Manufacturers, Students and Hospitality Industry Professionals participated in the Dialogue.
