The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Hyderabad organized a three-day “Annual Zonal Review Workshop of 71 KVKs in Zone-X (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry)” at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad from 24th to 26th May, 2019.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR. In his address, Dr. Singh opined the Krishi Vigyan Kendras for working on a single window concept for serving as a knowledge and resource center at the district level in order to cater to all the stakeholders. He urged the KVKs to focus on the entrepreneurship development through the establishment of processing and value-addition enterprises by the producer organizations, integrated farming system models, etc.
Dr. Randhir Singh, ADG (AE), ICAR outlined the ICAR’s Agricultural Extension Division’s new initiatives. The ADG (AE) launched the network project on New Extension Methodologies and Approaches (NEMA) involving 11 ATARIs and 6 ICAR Research Institutes during the occasion.
Dr. Y.G. Prasad, Director, ATARI, Hyderabad presented the Annual Progress Report for the Year - 2018-19 of the KVKs in Zone-X. He highlighted the achievements on assessment of 714 technologies and bridging of yield gaps in pulses & oilseed crops through the cluster frontline demonstrations.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM applauded the KVKs’ contribution to develop the climate-resilient villages under the NICRA project.
During the Valedictory Session, Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice-Chancellor, PJTSAU conferred the certificates of appreciation to the performing KVKs. He urged the KVKs for providing their feedback for planning of research programmes.
