Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Smt. Krishna Raj visited the ICAR-Central Island Agriculture Research Institute, Port Blair today. In her address, she urged to work in unison to achieve the Government’s target of doubling the income of the farmer’s by 2022. She underlined the need of taking up cage culture, fresh water fisheries, deep sea fishing, sea weed cultivation, better marketing opportunities both at National & International level.

She also visited the Dweep krishi Darpan and planted an Ashoka sapling in the precincts of the CIARI Complex
Dr. A Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI briefed about the research activities and achievements of the Institute.
Director of Fisheries, A & N Administration & Officer Incharge Fisheries survey of India also attended the meet.
