ICAR Research Vissels extends help in search and rescue operation in Ockhi affected areas

cift-01-12122017.jpgA vessel each from ICAR- Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute and ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology have joined the search operations for fishermen who are reported missing after Cyclone Ockhi.

ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin Research vessel Matsyakumari-II is associated with the search and rescue operations carried out in connection with the Cyclone Ockhi and started from Cochin today.

ICAR-CMFRI Research Vessel Silver Pompano is also conducting search operations alongside.

The vessels are equipped to conduct search at 140 nautical mile north of Alapuzha for 5 days initially as informed by the Joint Director of Fisheries, Ernakulam.    The Fishing Technology Division of ICAR-CIFT has also initiated a study on the impact of Ockhi in marine fisheries.
