ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, commenced the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada today to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The fortnight-long celebration, scheduled from 1–15 November 2025, aims to highlight the contributions of tribal communities and promote sustainable agricultural practices among tribal farmers.
As part of the action plan, the programme began with an awareness campaign on Rabi crops organized at Malkapur Village, Gudihathnoor Mandal, Adilabad District, Telangana. A total of 16 tribal farmers (11 men and 5 women) participated in the event, where they were sensitized on Rabi crop production technologies and best management practices. Feedback from the participants was also collected to understand their needs and challenges in crop cultivation.

Continuing the activities under the Pakhwada, on 2 November 2025, ICAR–CRIDA organized the distribution of Bengal gram seeds across Malkapur (Gudihathnoor Mandal) and Chincholi, Patwariguda, and Godurguda (Ichoda Mandal) in Adilabad District. A total of 10 quintals of Bengal gram seed were distributed to 40 farmers, including 5 women farmers, for demonstration in one-acre plots each.
During the programme, farmers were educated on good management practices for Bengal gram cultivation, including seed treatment, sowing methods, and crop protection measures, aimed at enhancing productivity and income generation.
The observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada at ICAR–CRIDA reflects the institute’s commitment to empowering tribal farming communities through technology dissemination and participatory extension initiatives.
