ICAR-National Research Institute on Integrated Pest Management celebrated its 38th Foundation Day & Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Expo 2026 on theme “Empowering Farmers through ICT-enabled IPM” at its campus today. This occasion was marked by the four decades of the institute's dedicated efforts in advancing integrated pest management, promoting eco-friendly and sustainable plant protection technologies and contributing towards national priorities in agriculture and farmers welfare.

The foundation day event with an IPM Expo was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Chairman, ASRB, DARE in the august presence of Dr. PK Chakrabarty, Former Member (Plant Sciences), ASRB & Former Assistant Director General (Plant Protection and Bio-Safety) ICAR, New Delhi; Dr. Poonam Jasrotia, Assistant Director General (Plant Protection and Bio-Safety), ICAR and Dr. Ramcharan Bhattacharya, Director, ICAR-National Institute of Plant Biotechnology, New Delhi; distinguished agricultural researchers and farmers. The IPM Expo was featured with exhibition stalls from prestigious ICAR institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and private companies.
Dr. Raman Thangavelu, Director, ICAR–NRIIPM delivered the Presidential Address with key highlights on research achievements, sustainable plant protection practices and technologies developed by the Institute. All the guests appreciated the exponential growth of the Institute from a research centre to a full-fledged research institute and admired the staff for working towards achieving the envisioned goals of the Institute. Besides, they appraised the farmers about adoption of biological control agents towards reduction in cost and chemical footprints and encouraged them to seek guidance from the Institute. The farmers were urged to use ICT-based mobile applications developed by the Institute for easy identification of insects and pests.
The progressive farmers from Mandora, Uttar Pradesh; Baslambi, Gurugram, Haryana; Uncha Majra, Haryana; and Babawad, Uttar Pradesh were felicitated for their significant contributions in disseminating Integrated Pest Management technologies on a large scale. The IPM inputs were distributed to the farmers attending the event. The Institute has honoured the farmers for their dedication and services in adopting the IPM technologies. Also, few best employees from technical, administrative and SSS categories were acknowledged for their hard work and significant contributions to the Institute’s success.

The Chief Guest commended the Institute’s research achievements and underscored the significance of impactful contributions in driving institutional success. He highlighted the critical importance of time management across all spheres, emphasizing its role in sustaining growth and excellence.
