ICAR-Indian Institute of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day in hybrid mode today.
Dr. D. K. Yadava, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Delivering the Foundation Day Lecture, he congratulated the scientists and staff for the remarkable progress made by the institute. He emphasized the need to adopt cutting-edge technologies to address emerging challenges in crop improvement, resource management, plant protection, and farmer awareness to achieve national self-sufficiency in edible oils. Dr. Yadava urged all ICAR oilseed research institutions to work in close coordination to generate a synergistic impact on oilseed research and production.
Dr. Arvind Kumar, Former Vice-Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, attended as Special Guest, who served ICAR-IIRMR for more than seven years as Director and made invaluable contributions, reflected on the institute’s journey of growth. He stressed that technological developments and programmes should be farmer-centric and directly linked to societal needs for faster and meaningful impact.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Assistant Director General (OP), ICAR, joined as Guest of Honour.
Dr. Vijay Veer Singh, Director, ICAR-IIRMR, Bharatpur, highlighted the institute’s major achievements and research initiatives undertaken during the past year.
Other dignitaries included Dr. R. K. Mathur, Director, ICAR-IIOR, Hyderabad; Dr. K. H. Singh, Director, ICAR-NSRI, Indore; Dr. P. K. Rai, Director, ICAR-NIBSM, Raipur; Dr. Dhiraj Singh, Former Director, ICAR-IIRMR, Bharatpur; and Dr. Bhoori Singh, Former Director, ICAR-IIRMR, Bharatpur.

Officials from state agricultural departments and institutions also attended the ceremony. Notable among them were Shri Deshraj Singh, Additional Director, Department of Agriculture, Bharatpur, and Dr. Udaybhan Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Bhusawar, Bharatpur. The institute’s strong connect with the farming community was clearly reflected in the enthusiastic participation of a large number of progressive farmers who attended the Foundation Day celebration in person.
On this occasion, six publications, including technical bulletins and extension leaflets, were released by Dr. Devendra Kumar Yadava and other dignitaries. Fifteen personnel, including scientists and administrative staff of the institute, were honoured with awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
