To augment the productivity and profitability from the traditional carp polyculture practice, ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre initiated a pilot scale activity on species diversification in carp polyculture for the first time in 25 farmer’s ponds at Sunpura, Lohit District, Arunachal Pradesh. This activity involving ‘farmers into research’ is being undertaken for 2-3 years under NEH Scheme.

The methods and results of the demonstration activity are being witnessed by farmers of this area through hands-on training programmes and field visits, and this activity would motivate around 100 fish farmers in this area to enhance the fish production of the district and state.

A total of 25 farmers participated in the training and demonstration programme organised from 10-12 February 2026.
