The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh organized a Farmers’ Awareness Programme on “Balanced Use of Fertilizers” today.
In his inaugural; address, the Chief Guest, Shri Vishnu Khatri, MLA, Berasia outlined the use of manures and fertilizers in an integrated manner to sustain the soil fertility and crop productivity. The importance of proper use of farmers’ resources based on Soil Health Card to achieve higher yield and better quality of farm produce was also highlighted in the Chief Guest’s address.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Ashok K. Patra, Director, ICAR-IISS, Bhopal briefed about the significance and role of Balanced Fertilizer Use for sustaining the crop yields and soil fertility.
Shri Padamsingh Thakur, Progressive Farmer & Member, IMC, ICAR-IISS, Bhopal stressed the need for achieving the targets of doubling the farmers’ income by adopting four pillars techniques namely reducing cost of cultivation, enhancing productivity, right price to agricultural produce and plant nutrient management strategies.
The senior officials of ICAR Institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and State Agricultural Universities also participated in the programme.
Around 300 Farmers, Scientists and KVK Personnel from the States of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh participated in the programme.
The programme was organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
