ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, and NITTE (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, Karnataka, signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 27 August 2026, to strengthen institutional collaboration in research, academic capacity building and knowledge exchange in areas of mutual scientific interest.
The MoU was signed and exchanged by Dr Kajal Chakraborty, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, and Dr Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, NITTE, in the presence of Prof. Dr M.S. Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, NITTE; Dr Iddya Karunasagar, Adviser (Research &Patents), NITTE, and Former Senior Officer, FAO; and Dr Indrani Karunasagar, Director (Projects) & Coordinator, DST-TEC, and Head, FAO Reference Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance & Aquaculture Biosecurity, NITTE.

The collaboration provides a framework for promoting joint and multidisciplinary research in emerging and priority areas, including genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, one health, antimicrobial resistance, aquatic animal health, aquaculture biosecurity and fish genetic resources. The partnership will particularly focus on contemporary challenges relating to fisheries, aquaculture, biodiversity conservation and aquatic health. The MoU aligns with the broader vision of strengthening scientific and academic partnerships in support of Viksit Bharat 2047.
