ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, has once again brought laurels to the nation by excelling in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, announced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
In the latest rankings, the institute secured the 1st position in the Agriculture and Allied Sectors category, reaffirming its status as the country’s premier institution in agricultural education, research, and innovation. Making a remarkable debut in the newly introduced Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) category, the institute stood at an impressive 2nd place, just behind IIT Madras, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and national priorities.
ICAR-IARI also recorded significant progress in other categories, ranking 24th in the Overall category and 29th among Research Institutions, marking an improvement of eight places compared to last year. These achievements underscore ICAR-IARI’s growing national relevance and global recognition across parameters such as teaching, learning resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach, and inclusivity.

At the award ceremony, today, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, presented the NIRF ranking certificates.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director& Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-IARI, along with Dr. Anupama Singh, Dean, received the awards on behalf of the institute.
Expressing his delight, Dr. Rao remarked ‘this recognition is a testimony to the scientific excellence, innovation, and teamwork of ICAR-IARI. It reflects the institute’s vision of contributing to national food and nutritional security, sustainable agriculture, and India’s global leadership in agricultural sciences, he added. He further highlighted that consistent rise in NIRF rankings is the outcome of relentless dedication by faculty, staff, and students. It inspires us to further strengthen our teaching, research, and extension systems to meet the aspirations of farmers and the nation.”
This achievement not only reinforces ICAR-IARI’s position as the country’s foremost agricultural institute but also underscores its enduring commitment to shaping the future of farming, empowering farmers, and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
