ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaypuram in Collaboration with AH&VS Hosts Animal Health Camp on World Veterinary Day

In observance of World Veterinary Day, the Division of Animal Sciences, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Sri Vijay Puram in collaboration with the DAHVS, A&N Administration, conducted an animal health camp at Namunagar, today. The theme of World Veterinary Day for this year is “Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health’. The theme highlights the critical and systemic role veterinarians play in safeguarding food safety and its security, public health, and animal health worldwide. From farm to fork, veterinarians are on the frontline of ensuring that food of animal origin is safe, nutritious, and responsibly produced.

The camp encompassed specifically highlighted the cleanliness in livestock farming to produce safe livestock produce. The camp stressed upon the use of traditional medicines using medicinal plants for sustainable livestock health management.

During the camp, herbal based medicines such as Dweep tickure, herbal ointment for wound healing, tonics for immunity and diarrhoea, deworming medicine and mineral mixtures were distributed to more than 50 goats and cattle.

Farmers of Rangachang village extended their gratitude to ICAR-CIARI and DAHVS for their efforts in organising the initiative and providing invaluable support. The whole health camp on the eve of world veterinary day was guided by Dr Jai Sunder, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
