12 April 2026, Hyderabad

On the occasion of the 42nd Foundation Day of ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, an intensive awareness campaign on the balanced use of fertilizers was organized in Hyderabad as part of the nationwide initiative led by Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

Under the campaign, scientists from ICAR-CRIDA launched a series of farmer outreach programmes across selected villages. A key highlight of the event was a Farmer–Scientist interaction programme, aimed at promoting balanced fertilizer application and sustainable agricultural practices to improve soil health.

During the programme, farmers were sensitized to the importance of adopting soil test-based fertilizer recommendations for maintaining soil fertility and ensuring efficient nutrient management. The expert team also highlighted the adverse impacts of excessive and imbalanced fertilizer use, urging farmers to adopt Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) practices for long-term sustainability.

Experts emphasized the need to enhance soil organic matter through practices such as green manuring and encouraged the integration of organic inputs and bio-fertilizers within the INM framework. The interactive session also provided farmers an opportunity to address their queries, which were clarified by scientists with practical insights on balanced nutrient use.
