CADC KVK, Bankura Inspires Young Learners on Agricultural Education Day

The CADC Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonamukhi, celebrated Agriculture Education Day at Jashra Primary School, Sonamukhi Block, with great enthusiasm, drawing active participation from students, teachers, and community members. The programme aimed to enhance awareness among young learners about the significance of agriculture, sustainable farming practices, and the wide range of career opportunities in the agricultural sector.

Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, addressed the audience virtually. He encouraged students to acknowledge agriculture as the backbone of India’s economy and a vibrant field offering scope for innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill-based rural development. Dr. Dey highlighted that today’s students are the future changemakers, capable of steering modern, resilient, and sustainable agricultural systems and contributing to the nation’s vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He stressed that knowledge, technology, and youth energy will play a pivotal role in ensuring food security, prosperity, and national self-reliance.

The event was attended by the Sonamukhi Block Saha-Sabhapati and the Panchayat Pradhan, whose presence added significance to the programme. They commended the efforts of KVK Bankura for promoting agricultural education at the grassroots level and inspiring young students to connect with agriculture and allied sectors.

KVK scientists conducted interactive learning sessions focusing on the role of agriculture in daily life, fundamentals of soil health, climate-smart farming practices, and the importance of nutri-gardens for household nutrition. Students were also introduced to various career pathways in agriculture and allied fields. The sessions were enriched with educational charts, models, and videos to ensure an engaging learning experience.

School authorities expressed their heartfelt appreciation to CADC KVK, Bankura, for selecting their institution for this impactful initiative. The programme effectively highlighted the value of agriculture and motivated students to develop curiosity, awareness, and respect for the farming community.

A total of 117 participants including students, teachers, parents, and community members enthusiastically took part in the celebration.
