A one-day KVK interface for strengthening technology application in Bihar Agriculture was organized at Bihar Veterinary College, Patna under the Chairmanship of Dr. Mangala Rai, Agriculture Advisor to Chief Minister, Bihar and former Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR. While addressing the gathering, Dr. Rai emphasized on making KVKs more efficient, effective and relevant for the cause of farming community. He highlighted the need for better monitoring and analysis of actual area expansion and technologies suitable to address thrust areas of the district. He advised for development of Zone-specific action plan in the context of roadmap of agriculture of Bihar state with delineated role and responsibilities of KVKs.
Dr. K.D. Kokate, Deputy Director General (Agriculture Extension), ICAR observed that KVKs need to consider expectation, demand and need of farming community before initiating its activities. He also briefly presented the initiatives taken by ICAR in strengthening KVKs during XIIth five year plan.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Zonal Project Director, Zone-II, Kolkata presented the achievements of KVKs of Bihar during last five years and involvement of KVKs in various centre/ICAR sponsored schemes. He also presented a brief account of proposed facilities for the XIIth five year plan in respect of KVKs.
Dr. R.K. Mittal, Vice-Chancellor, Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa, Dr. G. Trivedi, former Vice-Chancellor, RAU, Pusa and Shri Arvinder Singh, Director Agriculture, Govt. of Bihar also remarked on the occasion and presented their views.
KVKs of Bihar, ATMA officials of Bihar districts, ZPD officials and Directors of Extension Education of RAU, Pusa and Bihar Agricultural University, Bhagalpur participated in programme.
