ICAR-CRIDA Scientists Interacts with Farmers in OADMP Villages of Raruan Block, Mayurbhanj

Scientists from ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, under the Odisha Agriculture Drought Mitigation Programme (OADMP), conducted field-level interactions with small and tribal farmers in Takudipala, Sirakoli, Reteisahi, Purunia, and Godapalasa villages of Raruan Block, Mayurbhanj district, today.

During the visit, the team engaged with farmers on key aspects such as crop diversification, development and utilization of farm ponds, and integration of livestock in farming systems. The scientists also assessed the preliminary status of natural resource management structures, existing cropping patterns and diversity, agroforestry practices, and livestock resources in the villages.

The team observed active participation of small, medium, and tribal farmers, including women and youth, in agricultural and allied activities, highlighting the inclusive approach of the programme.

Detailed discussions on project activities were held with Shri Devandranath Triya, Sarpanch of Takudipala village, and Shri Manmohan Naik, Sarpanch of Tilakoti village. The team also deliberated on livestock development, fodder availability, and the rate of adoption of improved practices among farmers in Raruan Block with Shri Satyajit Sahoo, Assistant Veterinary Surgeon (AVS).

Senior officials from ICAR-CRIDA were present during the interactions and field visits, reviewing progress and providing technical guidance for effective implementation of the programme at the grassroots level.
