Teachers’ Day Celebrated at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad

ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm, paying tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and distinguished teacher-philosopher.

The programme was graced by Dr. P. L. Goutham, Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, as Chief Guest, and Dr. D. Raji Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Konda Laxman Horticulture University, Hyderabad, as Guest of Honour.

In his address, Dr. Goutham reflected on the pivotal role of Dr. Radhakrishnan in shaping agricultural universities in rural India. He urged students to respect teachers, cultivate lifelong learning habits, and build the nation through knowledge. He also encouraged teachers to adopt modern teaching methodologies to enhance student learning.

Dr. Reddy, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of Teachers’ Day, commended the faculty of ICAR-IARI Hyderabad Hub, and advised students to contribute to farmers’ welfare through knowledge dissemination, positive thinking, and hard work.

Dr. V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, presented the institute’s achievements over the past year and spoke on the role of teachers (gurus) in shaping lives. He appreciated the faculty and students for making the event memorable and reaffirmed ICAR-CRIDA’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and extension.

The programme was also attended by Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad, and Dr. Gopal Lal (Acting Director), ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad.

Dr. Barbuddhe stressed the importance of applying knowledge for the welfare of farmers.

Dr. Lal emphasised the role of teachers in shaping society and nation-building, urging students to maintain strong bonds with their teachers.

The event was attended by faculty members, staff, and UG, PG, Ph.D., and RAWEP students of ICAR-CRIDA and ICAR-IARI Hyderabad Hub, marking a memorable celebration of Teachers’ Day.
