ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in response to the call from the Government of India, to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers. The Save the Field Campaign will be held from 01 June to 30 June 2026 across the country.
Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization and Soil Health Management today at Donur village, Midgil Mandal, Mahabubnagar,District,of Telangana.
The importance of soil testing and the procedure for soil sample collection and analysis were explained in detail. The team highlighted key soil health management practices such as integrated nutrient management, organic amendments, and biofertilizer application.

Farmers were encouraged to adopt crop diversification by integrating pulses, green manure crops, and other suitable crops. The benefits of organic manures, compost, vermicompost, green manures and biofertilizers were discussed. The programme also promoted eco-friendly farming approaches such as organic farming, natural farming, and precision agriculture for improving soil health and environmental sustainability.
Farmers were sensitized about the importance of soil test-based balanced fertilization for sustainable crop production. They were advised to avoid excessive use of urea, which can negatively affect soil health, crop productivity, and farm profitability.
A total of 20 farmers, including two women farmers, participated in the event.
