Minister of State for Agriculture Reviews Khet Bachao Abhiyan Activities of ICAR Institutes and State Departments in Pune

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, Shri Ram Nath Thakur, reviewed the progress of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan being implemented by ICAR institutes and the State Agriculture Department during a review meeting held in Pune today.

The meeting focused on assessing the ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting soil health, balanced fertilizer use, sustainable agricultural practices, and farmer awareness under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan. Representatives from various ICAR institutes and the State Agriculture Department presented the activities undertaken in their respective jurisdictions, highlighting achievements, outreach programmes, and future action plans.

During the review, the Minister also reviewed the activities undertaken by the ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune, under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan.

Dr K V Prasad, the Director, ICAR DFR, Pune explained DFR’s initiatives on farmer awareness, soil rejuvenation, balanced nutrient management, and sustainable floriculture practices through field demonstrations, training programmes, Mahila Sammelans, and extension activities.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of the participating institutions in creating awareness among farmers and emphasized the need for continued collaboration among ICAR institutes, State Departments, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure long-term soil health.
