The Division of Agricultural Extension, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, organized an interactive programme today, featuring Dr I.B. Singh, President and CEO, Smart Innovation Corporation, USA. The event brought together scientists, faculty members, research scholars and students to discuss the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in strengthening agricultural extension and delivering timely, need-based advisory services to farmers.

In his keynote lecture on "AI-Enabled Extension System," Dr. I.B. Singh emphasized the potential of AI, machine learning, remote sensing and data analytics in providing real-time crop advisories, weather-based recommendations, pest surveillance and market intelligence. He stressed that future extension systems must be farmer-centric, data-driven and capable of delivering location-specific advisories in local languages, while complementing the expertise of scientists and extension professionals.
Introducing the Chief Guest, Dr B.K. Singh, Founder Chairman and Managing Director, BKC WeatherSys & BKC Aggregators Pvt. Ltd. outlined Dr I.B. Singh's pioneering contributions to technology-enabled agricultural solutions.

The programme began with floral tributes to Padma Shri Late Dr Gopal Trivedi, followed by a moment of silence in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Indian agriculture and agricultural extension.
Welcoming the dignitaries, Dr R.N. Padaria, Joint Director (Extension), ICAR-IARI, highlighted the importance of digital technologies and innovation-driven extension systems for sustainable agricultural development.
Dr N.P. Singh, Chairman and Director General, IDMAT & ASEED underscored the importance of collaboration among research institutions, industry and extension agencies to advance AI-driven, climate-smart and precision agriculture.
