ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, Gujarat in collaboration with Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO), Anand, Gujarat organised an awareness program on Balanced fertilizer use and soil health to the farmers at ICAR-DMAPR, Anand, Gujarat today. The program aimed to create awareness among farmers about balanced fertilizer application, soil fertility conservation, and sustainable agricultural practices for increasing crop productivity.
ICAR-DMAPR is a national institute working on various aspects of medicinal and aromatic Plants of India under the umbrella of ICAR. Medicinal and aromatic plants play vital role in ensuring health and livelihood security in India and world. KRIBHCO is a premier national level cooperative society of India engaged in fertilizer production and distribution. This program is being organised as part of national level awareness campaign on balanced use of fertilizers under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) initiative of the ICAR.

Dr Manish Das, Director, ICAR-DMAPR, Anand, Gujarat, in his inaugural address emphasized the importance of scientific nutrient management for maintaining soil health and improving crop productivity. He urged farmers to cultivate medicinal and aromatic plants for sustaining soil health and crop productivity. He said that, the ICAR-DMAPR, Anand has developed various innovative technologies alternative to chemical fertilizers.
The welcome address emphasized the importance of balanced fertilizer use and maintaining soil health, while providing an overview of the program.

The speakers highlighted the adverse effects of excessive and imbalanced fertilizer use and encouraged farmers to adopt soil testing, use organic manures and biofertilizers, and follow integrated nutrient management practices to improve crop quality and productivity.
A total of 100 farmers from Anand district, Gujarat participated in the programme. Lectures on balanced fertilization, nutrient management, bio-formulations, and good agricultural practices and crop diversification using medicinal and aromatic plants were delivered by the experts and scientists of ICAR-DMAPR, Anand. Farmers actively participated in the interaction session and received practical guidance on sustainable farming methods.
