Farmer-Scientist Interaction Meeting organized by ICAR-IIWM

In line with the directions of the Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, the ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar organized the live streaming of the release of the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The event, broadcast from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, marked the direct benefit transfer (DBT) of ₹20,500 crore to over 9.7 crore farmers across the country. As part of the occasion, a Farmer-Scientist Interaction Meeting was held at the Institute.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Arjamadutta Sarangi, Director, ICAR-IIWM, urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies, diversify cropping systems, and implement water conservation measures to enhance productivity in the context of climate change.

Scientists from the Institute shared insights on improved crop management practices for kharif crops, post-harvest processing and marketing of surplus produce, government welfare schemes, women empowerment initiatives, and entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture. They also responded to various queries raised by the participating farmers.

Following the interaction, farmers were taken on a guided visit to the Institute’s technology demonstration units to gain hands-on exposure to innovative agricultural practices.

The event witnessed active participation from over 80 farmers and farmwomen representing more than ten villages across four blocks in the districts of Puri, Khordha, and Cuttack in Odisha, along with scientists and other stakeholders.
