Distribution of Implements to Custom Hiring Center under NICRA–TDC at Namsai

Under the National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture project of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Namsai, organized a programme for the distribution of farm implements to the Custom Hiring Center (CHC) at Village Krishnapur, Mahadevpur, Lekang block, today.

The NICRA–Technology Demonstration Component (TDC) aims to enhance the resilience of Indian agriculture to climate variability through strategic research and demonstration of climate-resilient technologies. At Krishnapur, a CHC has been established and is being managed collectively by the Village Climate Resilient Management Committee (VCRMC). To further strengthen its activities, KVK Namsai provided solar nano pump, mini oil compressor, cono weeder, power sprayer, vermibed, and shadenet to the CHC. These implements are expected to reduce drudgery, improve farm efficiency, and build resilience against changing climatic conditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tojum Ete, EAC, Lekang, encouraged farmers to adopt scientific farming practices and share their knowledge with fellow farmers. He also stressed the importance of scientific livestock housing for maximizing benefits.

Mr. Kamal Roy, AGM, NABARD, Namsai, sensitized farmers about the challenges of climate change and the significance of adopting climate-resilient agriculture. He also briefed them about institutional financial support systems, including Kisan Credit Card, Atma Nirbhar schemes, and other NABARD initiatives, urging farmers to combine financial assistance with scientific management for better outcomes.

During the interaction session, farmers raised queries on farming practices and future livelihood prospects. The programme concluded with the formal handing over of implements to CHC members by the dignitaries.

A total of 60 participants, including the village headman and progressive farmers, attended the programme.
