CitriHub, the Agribusiness Incubation Centre of ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute, Nagpur, successfully organized “Citriसारथि 5.0”, a Citripreneurship Development Programme aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup culture among young students and aspiring entrepreneurs in the citrus domain today.
Dr P. M. Padole, Former Director, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, graced the function as the Chief Guest. He motivated the participants to explore emerging opportunities in technology-driven enterprises within the citrus sector. Dr Padole shared his valuable experiences and insights on safeguarding innovations through intellectual property protection. He also stressed the importance of maintaining ethical standards in technology development and agribusiness activities.

In his presidential address, Dr Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI, emphasized the growing importance of citripreneurship, technological innovation, and protection of intellectual property in building a dynamic and sustainable agribusiness ecosystem. He also highlighted the significant role played by women in science, technology, and science-driven agribusiness sectors. Dr Ghosh further underscored the proactive initiatives of the Government of India in promoting startups and supporting entrepreneurs, and encouraged the participants to make the best use of these opportunities.
The programme witnessed the participation of 33 aspirants, including students, who showed keen interest in learning about entrepreneurial opportunities in citriculture and allied sectors. Expert sessions were delivered on entrepreneurship development and intellectual property management, providing insights into startup development, innovation management, and the protection and commercialization of new technologies. The programme also emphasized the growing startup ecosystem in India and the potential role of innovators in developing technology-driven solutions for citrus-based industries.

Through initiatives like Citriसारथि, CitriHub continues to promote innovation, startup culture, and entrepreneurship development in the citrus ecosystem, and empower youth to become future entrepreneurs in the citrus value chain.
