115th FoCARS – Special Evening Lectures Held at ICAR-NAARM

ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad, organized Special Evening Lectures as part of the 115th Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Service (FoCARS) today.

Dr. P. L. Gautam, Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Bihar, delivered an inspiring lecture on research governance and professional development in agricultural sciences. He underscored the importance of adhering to rules and regulations, upholding ethical standards, and following due procedures in scientific inquiry.

Dr. Gautam also guided ARS probationers on career progression, emphasizing the need for well-conceived research proposals, effective project execution, and professional discipline. He further highlighted administrative and financial prudence, urging young scientists to remain transparent, meticulous, and accountable in their service.

Dr. Gopal Lal, Director, ICAR-NAARM, facilitated the session and encouraged FoCARians to make the best use of learning opportunities during the course for their professional and career growth.

Dr. Awani Kumar Singh, Head, Farming System Research Centre for Hill and Plateau Region, Ranchi, ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, spoke on protected cultivation systems. He highlighted the standardization and optimization of greenhouse vegetable production technologies to enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability. Stressing integrated crop protection under controlled environments, he demonstrated how resource-efficient practices can help mitigate pest and disease risks. His lecture presented protected cultivation as a promising solution to address climate change, resource constraints, and the need for year-round vegetable supply.
