ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad Organizes Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) at Pochampalli mandal in Yadadri -Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana state

ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organizing Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in response to the call from the Government of India and Indian Council of Agriculture (ICAR), to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.

Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on 03 June 2026 at Julur village of Pochampalli mandal in Yadadri -Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana state.

Farmers were sensitized about the importance of soil test-based balanced fertilization for sustainable crop production. They were advised to avoid excessive use of urea, which can negatively affect soil health, crop productivity, and farm profitability.

The participants were sensitized to the importance of balanced fertilizer application based on soil test reports and were guided on proper soil sampling techniques. Farmers were advised to cultivate green manure crops such as sunhemp and dhaincha prior to paddy transplantation, considering that paddy is the predominant crop grown in the cluster.

The discussion also emphasized the need to eliminate crop residue burning and highlighted the benefits of residue incorporation and utilization in reducing fertilizer requirements and improving soil health. An interactive session was conducted on water conservation strategies and the adoption of appropriate mechanization practices for efficient energy use.

The experts explained about the use of Biofertilizers and Biopesticides to create the awareness on organic cultivation methods briefing about using the digital tools for pest detection and to know the latest updates on markets.   The team created the awareness on Pulse mission and oil seed mission schemes and suggested to go for Redgram, green gram crops for crop diversification.

A total of 60 farmers, including participated in the event.
